How we look after the information you send us.
Draft for review. Please check this matches how the office actually works before the site goes live. Last updated 14 October 2026.
Who we are
Cllr Noel Connolly, Kildare County Council, is responsible for the information you send through this website (the "data controller"). Office: 4 Market Square, Kildare, R51 X458, Ireland. Phone 087 361 1407, email mail@noelconnolly.ie.
What we collect
Only what you type into the contact form: your name, area, email address, phone number, how you'd like to be contacted, the topic you chose, what you searched for, and your message. We don't collect anything else about you through this website.
Why we use it, and the legal basis
We use your details only to deal with your query: to reply to you, keep a record of what we've done, and, where you ask us to, raise the matter with the council, a government department or another public body.
The legal basis is section 40 of the Data Protection Act 2018, which allows an elected representative to process your information, including sensitive information such as health details, when you ask for help. Please only include sensitive details if we need them to help you.
Campaign messages (for example offering to volunteer) are not casework. We use them only with your consent, keep them separately, and you can withdraw consent at any time.
We will not add you to a newsletter or mailing list unless you ask us to.
Who sees it
- Noel and the people working in his office, who are bound by confidentiality.
- The public body responsible for your issue, if you ask us to raise it with them.
- Our IT providers, who act only on our instructions. The contact form sends your message straight to the office's casework system, which is run on Vercel (the application) and Supabase (the database), with the data held in the EU. If the office ever has to fall back to receiving form messages by email, Google delivers them; Google may process data outside the EU, under the safeguards EU law requires.
- GitHub, which hosts this website. Like any web host, it records visitors' IP addresses in its server logs for security.
How long we keep it
- Open queries: for as long as we're working on them. We never delete an open query automatically; if there's been no activity for 12 months, we review it.
- Resolved queries: 2 years after they're resolved, because people often come back about related issues. Then they are deleted automatically, along with your contact details if you have no other query with us. Occasionally we keep a query for up to a further 12 months, for a recorded reason such as an ongoing complaint.
- Campaign messages: until 31 December 2029 (about six months after the next local elections), or sooner if you ask.
- Records of requests to see or delete your information: 6 years, without the details of your query, so we can show we dealt with them.
- Backups: the casework system's backups are overwritten after 7 days.
- Spam: not kept.
When a query is deleted we keep only an anonymous count (the month, topic, area and how long we took to reply) so we can see what issues matter locally. It can't be used to identify you.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, ask us to stop using it, or withdraw your consent where we rely on it. Contact the office using the details above. We'll reply within one month.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Data Protection Commission, 21 Fitzwilliam Square South, Dublin 2, D02 RD28, or at dataprotection.ie.
